Job Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to ensure that there are no torque escapes from site. A secondary purpose is to support the calibration for measurement devices for the St Athan site.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for supporting the production line for all torque related issues and completing torque audits to prevent escapes from the facility. To lead the reporting of NOK torque audit measurements. Raise the Torque Alert email as per work instruction procedure. Lead the sweep of measurements to support risk assessment. Make observations of the joint measured to be NOK to support level 0 investigations and potential root cause analysis. Take an active role in supporting permanent corrective action investigation. Manage the CCAR capturing all NOKs and maintain it through to resolution. This includes chasing up all outstanding actions relating to the gating and resolution of NOK results. Maintain the accuracy of the torque audit round (according to the production process control plan and associated work instructions) and input into Crane (torque audit database software).
There will occasionally be a need to work across sites to maintain common best practice and to support torque audit in Gaydon.
Support to ensure that all equipment is in calibration and ready for use by production.
Qualification & Experience:
- Experience of application of assembly of bolted joints and associated tooling methods
- Familiarity with the use of measurement gauges and bolted jolt tools
- Understand different methods of measuring residual torque
- Experience of identifying process improvements
- Knowledge of mechanical joint methods and tooling
- Computer literacy including good knowledge of Excel.
- Hands on application of tooling calibration methods.
- Use of Crane software.
- Testing mechanical joints, including test to failure, bolt elongation
- Statistical analysis of torque application and residual torque data
- Mechanical engineering qualification
