Hours: 39 hours per week (flexibility required)
Join the iconic world of Aston Martin and play a key role in delivering the exceptional paint finish quality that defines our luxury vehicles. We are looking for a Production Technical Support Engineer to provide technical expertise within our Paint Shop operations at St Athan, supporting process optimisation, quality improvements, and the introduction of new products, colours, materials, and technologies.
Working closely with Production, Engineering and Quality teams, you will be responsible for ensuring robust process control, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting the successful launch of new models and manufacturing processes. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced paint shop professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is passionate about delivering world-class quality standards.
In this role, you will develop and maintain process control plans, support technical investigations and root cause analysis activities, and help improve process stability through data-driven problem solving. You will monitor material usage and identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiency and lower production costs. You will also support paint trials for new colours and finishes, ensuring all quality, capability and production readiness requirements are achieved.
The successful candidate will have experience within a paint shop, coatings or manufacturing engineering environment and possess a strong understanding of process control, quality systems, PFMEA and control plans. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies and continuous improvement techniques is highly desirable. You will be confident analysing defects, reducing DPV concerns and implementing effective corrective actions to improve product quality and operational performance.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential, as you will work closely with production teams, maintenance, suppliers and programme stakeholders. You will also have experience using MS Office applications and be comfortable managing performance metrics, improvement plans and technical documentation. Experience supporting launch programmes and customer issue resolution would be advantageous.
Candidates should have paint manufacturing, engineering or technical experience, ideally supported by an engineering qualification or ongoing engineering studies.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a prestigious automotive manufacturer and contribute to the delivery of outstanding vehicle quality while developing your career within manufacturing, quality, and operational leadership.
