The way someone interacts with a vehicle shapes every journey. From the clarity of information on a display to the position of a control, each detail should feel natural, intuitive and unmistakably Aston Martin.
We’re looking for an HMI & UX Attribute Lead to help define, test and improve the user experience across our future vehicles. Bringing together UX research, Human Factors and automotive engineering, you’ll turn customer insight and robust evidence into experiences that are distinctive, inclusive and easy to use.
Working within our Non-Driven Attributes team, you’ll lead the research and validation that supports the development of physical and digital vehicle interactions.
You’ll benchmark experiences from across the automotive industry and beyond, identifying emerging technologies and customer-experience trends. You’ll translate these findings into practical recommendations, UX targets and clear direction for our design and engineering teams.
Your work will span the full vehicle-development process. You’ll help define HMI requirements, standards and test procedures, while planning and delivering user research through customer clinics, usability studies, remote research, expert reviews and comparative assessments.
You’ll also design and analyse eye-tracking studies to understand usability, attention, cognitive workload and interaction efficiency. By combining qualitative insight with quantitative data, you’ll provide clear, evidence-based recommendations that help teams make confident design decisions.
This role offers the opportunity to work with HMI prototypes, ergonomic bucks, simulators, virtual reality and immersive testing environments. You’ll help develop these capabilities and recreate realistic driving and usage scenarios to evaluate new ideas before they reach the road.
Applying your Human Factors expertise, you’ll assess interaction flows, controls, information presentation, reach, visibility, legibility and cognitive demand. You’ll identify usability, distraction and ergonomic risks early, then work with others to shape effective solutions.
Collaboration will be central to your success. You’ll work across UX, Human Factors, Design, Electrical, Vehicle Engineering, Digital and programme teams, as well as with suppliers and research partners. You’ll present findings to a range of audiences and use clear evidence to influence decisions while balancing customer expectations, brand intent, technical feasibility, legal requirements, cost and timing.
You’ll have significant experience across UX design, UX research and Human Factors, ideally within automotive HMI or another complex, safety-relevant product environment.
You’ll be confident planning, moderating and analysing qualitative and quantitative research. Practical experience of eye-tracking studies, usability testing and developing robust research protocols will be important, alongside the ability to translate findings into meaningful UX requirements and targets.
Experience working with interactive prototypes, HMI rigs, simulators, virtual reality or immersive testing environments will help you make an immediate impact. You’ll also bring strong analytical skills and the ability to present complex findings in a clear, concise and decision-focused way.
Knowledge of automotive displays, infotainment, switchgear or multimodal interactions would be valuable. Familiarity with tools such as Figma, ProtoPie, Unity or Unreal, as well as vehicle-development processes including DVP and DFMEA, would also be beneficial but is not essential.
You’ll hold a degree or equivalent professional qualification in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Human-Computer Interaction, UX Design, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Product Design, Engineering or a closely related subject. Equivalent applied professional expertise may also be considered.
You’ll be curious, customer-focused and guided by evidence. You’ll enjoy turning unclear questions into structured research, challenging assumptions constructively and helping multidisciplinary teams see opportunities from a different perspective.
Organised and methodical, you’ll be comfortable managing priorities across multiple vehicle programmes. You’ll work confidently on your own while remaining a collaborative colleague who shares knowledge, supports others and continuously looks for better ways of working.
The role may require occasional travel within the UK and internationally, along with some flexibility to support testing outside standard working hours. A Level 3 driving permit may also be required for benchmarking and vehicle evaluation activities.
If you want to shape how customers experience the next generation of Aston Martin vehicles, this is an opportunity to bring research, technology and human understanding together.
Join us and help create vehicle interactions that do more than function beautifully. Help make every interaction feel instinctive, considered and unmistakably Aston Martin.
