Every Aston Martin is designed to deliver an exceptional experience, not only on day one, but throughout its life.
Behind that confidence is a team of engineers who challenge every system, component and vehicle to perform under demanding real-world conditions. We’re looking for a Durability Attribute Engineer to join our Durability & Reliability team and help ensure our future vehicles deliver the performance, quality and dependability our customers expect.
This is an opportunity to work at the heart of vehicle development, taking ownership of the planning and delivery of durability and reliability across vehicle, system and component levels. Your work will help turn engineering requirements into robust test strategies, meaningful data and practical solutions across our high-performance vehicle programmes.
As a Durability Attribute Engineer, you’ll lead the durability activity for assigned vehicle projects, bringing together engineering teams, test facilities and programme stakeholders to ensure requirements are understood and delivered.
You’ll help define durability targets, including mileage, manoeuvres and environmental conditions, while developing the high-level strategy for vehicle testing. You’ll manage test timing, resources, facility requirements and budgets, maintaining a clear view of progress throughout each stage of the programme.
Your role will extend beyond planning. You’ll monitor vehicle, system and component testing, manage durability concerns and coordinate the actions needed to resolve them. When an issue arises, you’ll work with engineering teams to understand the root cause, agree interim measures and develop permanent corrective actions.
You’ll also bring durability requirements into engineering activities such as DFMEAs and DVPs, helping commodity teams define effective prevention and detection strategies. From vehicle builds and post-test strip-downs to programme reviews and engineering sign-off, you’ll keep complex activity connected, visible and moving forward.
Data and evidence will sit at the centre of your work. You’ll support the analysis of customer usage, in-service concerns and durability test results, using these insights to improve test cycles and engineering decisions.
You’ll also contribute to developing and validating instrumentation methods, including strain gauges and displacement transducers, and support analysis relating to brake wear, tyres, fluids, fuel consumption and the wider degradation of vehicle attributes over time.
Throughout the programme, you’ll build strong relationships across commodity, attribute, vehicle engineering, programme and purchasing teams. You’ll be trusted to communicate complex information clearly, bring structure to competing priorities and provide balanced recommendations when technical, timing and commercial requirements do not naturally align.
You’ll have an engineering degree or equivalent experience, supported by a broad understanding of automotive systems and vehicle development.
You’ll be confident working with technical data and applying analytical, statistical, durability and reliability techniques to solve engineering challenges. Experience of noise factor management and structured problem-solving methods will help you succeed in the role.
Knowledge of automotive data-acquisition systems, diagnostic tools or software such as N-Code and CANape would be valuable, although not essential. Experience with statistical analysis methods such as Six Sigma, or formal project or management qualifications including PRINCE2, DMS or an MBA, would also be advantageous.
Just as importantly, you’ll be organised, methodical and comfortable managing several priorities at once. You’ll communicate clearly, pay close attention to detail and remain focused when working under pressure. You’ll enjoy collaborating with others but will also have the confidence, initiative and determination to progress work independently.
The role is based at our Gaydon facility and may involve occasional overseas travel. An L3 PG driving permit is required to support durability definition and issue resolution activities.
If you enjoy bringing structure to complex vehicle programmes, using data to solve engineering problems and working with teams across the business to deliver lasting improvements, this could be your next opportunity.
