Some finance roles are about reporting what has already happened. This one gives you the opportunity to influence what happens next.
At Aston Martin, accurate financial reporting plays an essential part in how we make decisions, meet our responsibilities and build confidence in the future of the business. We are looking for a Financial Reporting Senior Manager to join our Group Finance team in Gaydon and take a leading role in shaping the quality, consistency and effectiveness of our financial reporting.
This is an opportunity for you to combine deep technical accounting expertise with visible leadership. You will take overall responsibility for the Group and subsidiary financial statements, including the financial statements within the Annual Report, as well as quarterly and half-year reporting. You will make sure that reporting is complete, accurate, timely and prepared in accordance with IFRS requirements.
You will also lead the external audit process across the business, building productive relationships with key audit contacts and ensuring that complex financial reporting matters are identified and addressed. When new accounting guidance or a challenging technical question emerges, you will be trusted to assess the implications, develop a clear position, prepare the supporting technical papers and communicate the recommended approach to colleagues and auditors.
Your impact will reach well beyond the reporting timetable. You will work closely with colleagues across Commercial, Value Lifecycle, Operations, Treasury, Investor Relations, Legal and Special Operations Sales. Whether you are helping determine the appropriate treatment for revenue recognition, asset capitalisation, customer deposits, IFRS 16 leases or wider Group transactions, you will bring people together and turn technical complexity into clear, well-supported decisions.
You will lead a team of eight colleagues within the Financial Reporting function, supporting their development while remaining close to the detail. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will review balance sheet reconciliations and key period-end controls, oversee reporting for several smaller Group entities and provide cover for the Group Financial Controller when required. You will also help colleagues across the wider Finance function strengthen their understanding of reporting requirements and apply them consistently.
There is also an opportunity to help shape how technology supports the team. You will contribute to the optimisation of the recently implemented ERP system and lead the continued development of the Group’s approach to artificial intelligence within financial reporting. Your focus will be on ensuring that AI-enabled processes and outputs are appropriately governed, compliant with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and able to support accurate, timely and insightful financial information.
You may currently be working in a senior financial reporting position within a multinational listed organisation, or you may have developed comparable experience within a Big Four or mid-tier audit firm. You will bring recent technical financial reporting experience in a PLC environment, including experience of working with the Financial Reporting Council, together with strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and external audit.
As a qualified accountant, with an ACA or ACCA qualification, you will be comfortable interpreting complex financial reporting standards and translating them into practical business decisions. You will know how to assess risk, materiality and interdependencies, present technical subjects clearly to different audiences and remain diplomatic but persistent when applying accounting policies. Strong spreadsheet modelling, project management and communication skills will also be important.
Just as importantly, you will know how to lead with credibility. You will be comfortable engaging with directors and Executive Committee members, working independently when needed and creating an environment where your team can develop and perform at its best. You will bring commercial awareness, sound judgement and a continuous improvement mindset, while staying calm and focused when deadlines are demanding.
Based in Gaydon, this is a hybrid role with an expectation of approximately three days per week in the office. Flexibility will be important around monthly, quarterly and annual reporting deadlines, helping to ensure that the financial close is completed on time, financial statements can be released to the market and audit information is available when required.
If you are ready to bring technical expertise, thoughtful leadership and a hands-on approach to a role with significant visibility and responsibility, we would be pleased to hear from you.
