Launch Engineer
Aston Martin St Athan
Are you passionate about bringing world-class vehicles from development into production? Aston Martin is looking for a highly motivated Launch Engineer to join our New Model Launch team, playing a pivotal role in the successful introduction of new vehicle programmes to our production facilities.
As a Launch Engineer, you will be at the heart of vehicle launches, ensuring that quality issues identified during pre-production build phases are investigated, resolved, and permanently eliminated. Working cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Programme, and Engineering teams, you will drive root cause analysis activities and ensure corrective actions are effectively implemented ahead of Job 1 and customer delivery.
This is an exciting opportunity to become a key contributor within Aston Martin's Manufacturing Operations, leading projects that directly influence vehicle quality, production readiness, and launch success.
What You'll Be Doing
You will take ownership of pre-production build concerns, leading investigations to identify root causes and ensuring robust containment activities and permanent corrective actions are implemented. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will facilitate concern review meetings, drive issue resolution, and escalate risks that could impact build timing, production readiness, or Job 1 targets.
The role involves managing concern progression from identification through to closure, monitoring key performance indicators, and presenting progress updates within relevant forums. You will also lead production readiness activities for nominated build locations, ensuring all launch requirements are met and that vehicles are built to the expected quality standards.
As a project lead, you will collaborate with multiple functions, influence stakeholders, and coordinate activities to achieve build milestones and "OK to Build" approval.
About You
You will have experience within an automotive manufacturing environment and possess a strong understanding of vehicle assembly processes. You will be an effective problem solver with the ability to apply structured methodologies to identify root causes and deliver sustainable solutions.
You should be comfortable making decisions independently, managing multiple priorities, and leading discussions with stakeholders from different areas of the business. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the confidence to present information, challenge where necessary, and influence outcomes.
A logical and collaborative approach is critical, as is the ability to manage projects and drive actions through to completion.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of vehicle assembly processes and a broad understanding of manufacturing, quality, programme, and engineering launch requirements. You will have practical experience applying structured problem-solving techniques such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Analysis, and similar methodologies to resolve production issues.
Experience leading cross-functional investigations and delivering corrective actions in a manufacturing or automotive environment would be highly advantageous.
Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies, Six Sigma accreditation, or an NVQ in Automotive Production would be beneficial but is not essential.
Why Aston Martin?
This role offers a unique opportunity to work on the launch of some of the world's most desirable high-performance vehicles. You will gain exposure across multiple business functions, build valuable relationships throughout Operations, and play a key role in shaping the successful delivery of future Aston Martin products.
Occasional travel between Aston Martin sites may be required.
