Department overview 

Finance at Aston Martin Lagonda is critical to supporting the business objectives and overall strategy. Working as a key support function to objectively financially assess the impacts and likely scenarios for business decisions. This is achieved by business partnering and working side by side with all departments to understand and analyse the consequences or value that can be created or removed from these actions. The department has a key responsibility for corporate governance and ensuring accurate and fair financial statements and corporate reporting, both internally and externally (including internal audit, investor relations and general corporate reporting).

 

Job purpose

This role requires a self-starter, highly dynamic individual who will drive financial performance throughout the Engineering function providing appropriate financial guidance, control and reporting.  Becoming a key Business Partner with Engineering, the successful candidate will be an integral point of contact with Functional Engineering Chiefs, helping them drive finance control of resource and non-programme spend.  The role will require development of other key relationships with Engineering, ensuring timely and accurate budgeting, forecasting and reporting as well as supporting ad-hoc construction of business cases and appraisals.   The successful candidate will also be a high quality business partner to the Current Car Engineering function and will develop productive working relationships with colleagues across, but not limited to, Finance, HR and Procurement.

 

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Financial Control of Engineering resource, supporting achievement of targets through world class Business Partnering
  • Support Planning and forecasting activities in delivery of the Business Plan.
  • Support Engineering Function in achieving and improving upon Budget and Business Plan targets.
  • Preparation and review of monthly management information across projects [Resource, CAPEX, etc.]
  • Capital and expense project approval, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Support the preparation and presentation of financials to senior management and external stakeholders as appropriate
  • Delegated responsibility for Senior Finance Analysts/Managers when required.
  • Represent the Finance function in cross-functional teams to resolve key financial risks or issues.
  • Challenge operating interfaces to help achieve the most cost-efficient results and meet challenging CAPEX targets

 

Experience and qualifications

Essential experience 

  • Candidates should have a proven track record of a broad, advanced financial and interpersonal skill set with strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Previous experience within a financial Product Creation function.

Preferred experience

  • High Performance Automotive experience, within a project environment
  • Experience with use/implementation of an ERP system

Essential education/ qualifications

  • Educated to degree level (2:1 minimum).
  • Studying towards CIMA, ACCA, or competency through relevant experience.

 

Required skills

  • Strong influencing skills.
  • Strong excel and other desktop skills.
  • Strong ability to adapt quickly and flexibly to resolve multiple issues with appropriate prioritisation of time/resources

 

Additional information 

Ability to work flexibly due to monthly, quarterly and annual deadlines to ensure month-end duties are completed, and the forecasts, budget and business plan are available for The Board on time. UK driving license preferred.
