Department Overview:
The Legislation and Certification (L&C) department ensures that Aston Martin Lagonda (AML) products meet current and future legislation requirements that will allow sale into global markets.
Job Purpose:
Lead internal combustion engine (ICE) emissions certification activities and support compliance for global markets, ensuring adherence to legislative requirements and company standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build strong, respectful relationships across departments to ensure powertrain certification requirements are met and challenges are communicated openly.
- Plan, lead and deliver Internal Combustion Engine emissions certification testing for vehicle programmes to agreed project timelines and processes.
- Accountable for homologation worst-case agreements with type-approval authorities and technical services
- Responsibility for ensuring vehicles and components accurately reflect production specifications and are presented correctly to government authorities for Homologation testing.
- Accountable for all documentation created and submitted as part of Homologation is accurate, to a high standard and reflects production specifications
- Ownership of monitoring legislative changes relevant to the field of Emissions and Fuel Economy Homologation, ensuring effective clear communication to stakeholders in Powertrain, Electrical and the wider business as required.
- Accountable for developing and deploying compliance strategies for new powertrain legislation and communicate business impacts effectively.
- Lead problem solving activities in the area of Emissions and Fuel Economy Homologation
- Accountable for Conformity of Production data validation in the field of Emissions and Fuel Economy
Experience & Qualifications:
Essential:
- Degree (or equivalent) in a technical discipline.
- Experience in emissions certification testing.
- Experience in evaporative emissions testing.
Preferred:
- Degree (or equivalent) in a technical discipline focussed on Mechanical/Automotive/Electrical or Design engineering
- Technical experience in the automotive industry, or
- Experience dealing with legislation and regulatory authorities
- Experience of test vehicle preparation and management
- Experience of testing HEVs, PHEVs and BEVs.

- Fluent in spoken and written English; confident communicator
- Competent in MS Office and adaptable to company IT systems

- Full UK driving licence
Additional Requirements:
Ability to support overseas testing (EU, China and USA) with rotation, and support expected from within the department (average of 10 days per year) and overnight travel in the UK to test facilities to support witness testing (average of 15 days per year)
