Job purpose
The Senior Programme Manager delivers Large / XL programmes or oversees multiple medium / small size vehicle programmes within a carline. They are responsible for the day-to-day delivery of all aspects of the programme from initial definition through to Start of Production.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Lead extra-large and large vehicle programmes whilst overseeing multiple medium and small vehicle programmes (CKO to G0)
- Manage project scope and definition against the SEL/PDL
- Manage project costs, track budgets, and escalate financial risks.
- Develop vehicle Programme Plans (VPP) and track project milestones and Gateways.
- Responsible for risk management Cost/Quality/Time, implement mitigation actions, and report issues to Senior Management.
- Support BOM management, change control, ICA/PCA plans, and physical builds.
- Plan and allocate project resources to meet delivery requirements.
- Drive collaboration between project teams, VLMs, and PLs.
- Provide status updates, risk logs, and reporting to the SPM/CPE/VLD.
- Manage Programme management teams (M/G9/G8)
- Provide mentoring and coaching to develop the PMO team to drive delivery excellence.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential Experience
- Engineering degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
- Extensive experience delivering whole vehicles or complex systems in an engineering environment
- Proven track record of leading large-scale OEM-based whole vehicle delivery programmes
- Significant experience driving New Product Introduction (NPI) programmes, such as MISSION or GPDS
- Deep understanding of programme lifecycles, including strategic planning, gating, and risk management
- Ability to lead and influence matrixed, cross-functional teams across multiple projects and sites
- Skilled in managing budgets, resource allocation, and programme objectives at a senior level
- Strong commercial and technical acumen to support decision-making in complex delivery environments
- Competent in Microsoft Office and programme management tools
- Exceptional time management, prioritisation, and organisational skills, balancing multiple high-level objectives
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to mentor, inspire, and develop managers and engineers
Additional Requirements
Flexibility required on start and finish times due to events and different locations is required.
