Job Purpose:

• Provide support to the paint technician during the ‘Lates’ shift to ensure that only vehicles of the highest quality are sent forward.

• Cover any planned or unplanned absences during the ‘Lates’ shift by performing a thorough paint inspection.

• Motivate and lead the team through effective communication by defining clear roles and responsibilities for all team members, ensuring customer satisfaction for both internal and external customers

• Coordinate and facilitate team activities within the immediate area of responsibility, in accordance with established schedule requirements and all company standards and processes, including Safety, Quality, ISO 9000, Environmental, and Health & Safety.

• Ensure effective teamwork through the efficient use of labour and resources.

• Eliminate all forms of waste within the team’s area of responsibility, including non-value-added work, rework, and rejects.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide feedback on CPA faults, MPR faults, and FCR paint faults to the paint inspection team.

• Ensure that vehicles inspected along the polish line meet the paint VIS requirements.

• Provide daily DPV feedback to production LTs throughout the shift.

• Make judgment calls on faults when necessary.

• Perform daily LT Kamishibai tasks.

• Lead the team in monitoring, controlling, and improving the quality levels within the identified areas of responsibility, ensuring that company and customer quality standards are always adhered to.

• Ensure the team has sufficient resources so their area of responsibility can always function, including skilled labour, consumable materials, and maintained equipment, to achieve the required quality standards and delivery performance.

• Motivate and lead the team in developing world-class performance by establishing housekeeping principles, implementing 5S, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, in line with a culture that promotes self-discipline and control.

• Ensure the team meets production schedules aligned with the master schedule, in accordance with company quality standards, policies, recording procedures, safety requirements, and production liability protocols.

• Plan and manage team training to achieve versatility requirements and enable job rotation within the local team and assembly areas. Maintain accurate and up-to-date skill matrices, versatility matrices, and operator training sign-off sheets for all training and development activities.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Demonstrate a full understanding of the paint process in Aston Martin.

• Experience in inspection systems.

• Demonstrate adequate colour matching capabilities by completing a Munsell colour hue test.

• Demonstrate team leadership or supervisory experience.

• Ability to identify team strengths and weaknesses and facilitate training needs.

• Business acumen to enable team reporting systems and procedures to operate effectively. 

• Ability to use diagnostic tools to determine faults and lead a team in the rectification of such faults.

• Computer literate.

• Clear understanding of the paint ‘materials & coating’ section within VIS.

• Knowledge of the CPA scoring matrix.

• Knowledge of inspection tools and techniques (visual inspection, gauges, measurement systems).

• Clear and concise communication with production, quality teams, and management.

• Ability to provide constructive feedback and escalate issues appropriately.

• Ability to motivate and lead a team toward world-class performance.
