Department Overview
Our Finance team is at the heart of our fast-paced business creating a world-class luxury automaker and maximizing shareholder value creation, working with the brands and functions to ensure they meet their business goals through strong financial planning and management. The department has a key responsibility for corporate governance and ensuring accurate and fair financial statements and corporate reporting, both internally and externally (including external/internal audit, authorities and general corporate reporting).
Job Purpose:
The Financial Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the monthly financial accounts are accurate and meeting German compliance requirements. The role will prepare timely and accurate reporting documents for the relevant authorities
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsibility for the month-end operational process, including accrual calculations and cost center variance analysis within accounting close timing and liaison with the Finance management team to support them in management accounts reporting.
- Preparation of statutory accounts for audit in conjunction with the wider accounting function.
- Creation of invoices to third parties and liaison across regional functions to ensure accuracy of information and correct legal and tax application.
- Day to day ownership of parts of the external audit process across the business and managing of the relationship with key Audit contacts.
- Preparation and review of Balance Sheet account reconciliations with the senior accounting team, and operation of key financial review controls at period ends.
- Responsibility for entity intercompany reconciliations.
- Ensuring the accounting sub-ledgers (Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger and Fixed Asset Register) tie to the General Ledger.
- Maintenance of system Segregation of Duties in conjunction with the Internal controls team.
- Assistance with Accounting / Treasury transactional requirements including approval of online banking transactions.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- Experience from a similar position in a multinational group or delivering similar financial reporting activity via Big 4 or mid-tier audit firm
- Good working knowledge of General Ledger accounting principles & techniques, and working to tight deadlines
- Excel literate with good spreadsheet modelling and analytical skills
- Strong analytical skills – includes the ability to spot, assess and address risk, materiality and interdependencies and translate it into impact analysis for the financial reporting and recommendations for improvement.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team environment and independently with required direction and guidance
- Ability to act independently, be self-motivated, and motivate others
- Excellent understanding of accounting rules and procedures, including the German Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)/HGB
- Experience with accounting software and data entry (e.g. DATEV, Infor/LN)
Preferred:
- Experience of implementing an accounting package/ERP system change desired
- Experience of implementing end to end process improvement desired
- Qualified Accountant, ACA / CA / ACCA,
- Bachelor in Accounting
- Member of Accounting Body (e.g. ICAEW, ICAS),
- IDW (Institut der Wirtschaftsprüfer),
- DStV (Deutscher Steuerberaterverband),
- bbh (Bundesverband selbständiger Buchhalter und Bilanzbuchhalter),
- BVBC (Bundesverband der Bilanzbuchhalter und Controller)
Behaviours and Skills
- Strong communication skills – presenting financial reporting matters in an understandable way across various forums and levels of the organisation with the right level of detail. Excellent written and oral English communication skills. German a plus

- Capable of interpreting and applying the complexities of relevant legislation / financial reporting standards. Methodical and process driven mind set with an ability to present and seek feedback at all levels within the business

Additional Requirements:
Ability to work flexibly due to monthly, quarterly and annual deadlines to ensure the closing is completed in a timely fashion, the financial statements can be released to HQ, and audit information is promptly available.
This is a hybrid role with an expectation of c.3 days a week in the office
