Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Valhalla Build Team Supervisor and working in line with engineering work instructions, build process sheets, and quality standards, the Absence Cover will be responsible for supporting day-to-day production activities during team member absences. Covering a range of build processes and providing training to new starters. Supporting other activities that are critical to the project delivery.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Execute build processes across multiple stations to ensure vehicle components are assembled to specification.
- Perform control point audits to verify compliance with Vehicle Inspection Standards (VIS).
- Accurately maintain control point data and enter quality flags into relevant systems.
- Train and support technicians in correct build procedures and quality standards using the EASE system.
- Manufacture or sub-assemble vehicle components in accordance with detailed engineering drawings & process documents.
- Ensure all work meets the highest quality and finish standards expected of the AML standards.
- Comply with Build in Quality (BIQ) processes, including station-level buy-offs and quality gates.
- Complete and action Rework Instruction Sheets (RIS) and update records as required.
- Identify part mismatches or process inefficiencies through EASE and recommend improvements.
- Support and engage in continuous improvement initiatives including Kaizen, Six Sigma, and PPS activities.
- Maintain safe working practices and ensure adherence to company health & safety policies.
- Uphold high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and discipline within the workstation.
- Ensure all controlled substances and components are stored safely and in correct locations.
- Work flexibly across different stations as required to support team absence coverage.
Qualification & Experience:
- Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent manual dexterity, particularly in a vehicle testing or diagnostic environment.
- Previous experience or working knowledge of vehicle assembly processes.
- Proven experience in vehicle rework and rectification, ideally within a road test or quality control setting.
- Confident in training and supporting other team members on multiple processes, standards, and process requirements.
- Computer literate advantageous
- NVQ in automotive production, repair or maintenance desirable but not essential
