Job Purpose:

The role is for a Lead Engineer – Steering Systems with the responsibility to lead and coordinate the concept, design, delivery and integration of new steering systems, Steering Gears and Steering Columns as well as keeping technical documentations up to date according to latest vehicle requirements.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create, develop and maintain key technical documentation for the existing as well as for the new steering systems.
  • Act as the main point of contact in the Chassis team for the steering system, responsible to provide guidance/recommendations in the engineering technical forums.
  • Manage program development and provide status reports, issue tracking, and recovery plans.
  • Drive quality improvements, cost reduction, and efficiency enhancement initiatives.
  • Create and maintain Foundation Steering System DFMEA’s, DVP’s, Design Rules & Internal Standards.
  • Lead the new vehicles concept requirements for the Steering Systems providing guidance and solutions for component targets, packaging requirements, technologies to be used.
  • Work closely with the Software & Electrical teams regarding new Steering Systems development and integration.
  • Provide support as required to component engineers during supplier meetings and internal engineering reviews.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience with Electric Power Steering system sizing and features definition
  • Good working knowledge of VIS Mockup and Teamcenter
  • Competent in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of Engineering Quality processes and tools such as DFMEA, 6-sigma, 8D
  • Experience of Steering System components delivery will be required.
  • Previous experience of creating Steering System components technical documentation, DFMEA’s, DVP’s, test requirements
  • Previous team leadership skills desirable but not essential.
  • Good working knowledge of Chassis suspension systems, including sub-components and their function desirable.
  • Knowledge of MISSION or an equivalent Product Creation System such as GPDS, FPDS, AMPCS, PCDS, CCDS.
  • Knowledge of Rear Wheel Steer Systems would be preferred but not mandatory.
  • Engineering degree in an appropriate engineering discipline.
  • Working knowledge of Siemens NX preferred but not essential
