Department Overview: 

Deliver NVH technical leadership during Concept, Platform, and Application phases across AML. Within Vehicle Engineering cross-attribute integration strategy, provide expertise in NVH performance, issue mitigation, development, and verification.

Job Purpose:

Provide expertise in NVH attribute performance, issue mitigation, development, and verification.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

A senior member of the NVH team, you will be responsible for development and leading our next generation of vehicles. As Lead NVH Attribute Engineer, you will manage concept, prototype and verification process delivering ultra-luxury NVH performance. You will be able to demonstrate expertise and experience in many of the following skills:

  • Whole vehicle NVH Simulator and digital attribute assessment and verification.
  • Support body structure parametric modelling to ensuring NVH, Dynamics and Safety performance optimisation.
  • Working in partnership with NVH technical specialists in powertrain, chassis, and body structures, you will maintain a strong and strategic relationship with teams for Virtual Series, Concept engineering, CAE Body Structures, Body Aero Simulation, Chassis Simulation, and Powertrain Simulation.
  • Good understanding of the vehicle development process, fundamentals of systems architecture, and familiarity with issues resolution, virtual test procedures, boundary conditions and countermeasures.
  • Management of internal and outsourced activities, planning and budgets.
  • Deliver optimum engineering solutions with successful and timely resolution of issues.
  • Strong organisational skills and critical thinking - experience dealing with different and conflicting priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You will need to be capable in using appropriate analytical tools and comfortable reviewing simulation and test data.
  • Clear communicator - ability to translate complex things into a simple and clear message for a variety of stakeholders.
  • Flexibility and commitment - you’ll need to roll up your sleeves and get stuck into a variety of jobs as part of the Vehicle Engineering team and approach every task with enthusiasm and commitment.
  • High technical ability to successfully coach engineers to provide individual development.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Ability to deliver NVH attribute leadership during Concept, Platform, or Application phases.
  • Can demonstrate a working knowledge of state-of-the-art development techniques including latest hardware and software development toolsets.
  • Experience in automotive simulation and development issue mitigation.
  • Provide cross NVH attribute integration strategy with expertise in an NVH sub attribute.
  • Experience of working in research, test, or development environments.
  • Subjective evaluation of vehicle attributes.
  • A good understanding of design guidelines and issue mitigation; with experience of test, development, and verification.
  • Knowledge of MISSION or equivalent product creation process (AMPCS, GPDS, NPI).
  • Good knowledge and mentality on problem solving process (e.g. 8D, 6 sigma).
  • The candidate will be higher degree qualified either in NVH or with a significant acoustics and vibration course content or can demonstrate equivalent expertise gained working in a technical specialist or expert role.
