Department Overview:
Aston Martin Works operates as a dealer in the UK selling new, used and heritage vehicles whilst also offering aftersales support for both modern and heritage vehicles worldwide. The finance team is responsible for providing professional finance leadership to enable the delivery of the business objectives.
Job Purpose:
This pivotal role is integrated within the leadership team at Aston Martin Works, controlling all financial aspects of the business and working with the rest of the leadership team to maximise business performance. Leading a team of finance professionals to deliver financial information and reporting, that drives informed decisions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver robust financial leadership at Aston Martin Works, ensuring accurate budgeting/forecasting, effective cost and balance sheet control, whilst ensuring full compliance with financial standards.
- Drive financial accountability and operational efficiency across Aston Martin Works through clear governance, insightful reporting, and strategic cost management, often working with colleagues who have varied levels of financial understanding.
- Tracking actuals and leading the taking of corrective action where necessary to maximise financial performance.
- Lead a small team that collaborates with key business areas and personnel to drive financial excellence and helping them develop further within the business as key business partners
- Ensure compliance with customs and excise regulations, controlling IPR facilities and VAT submissions.
- Working with external auditors with regards to annual reporting of both AMW and AML, leading creation and submission of annual statutory accounts for AMW
- Supporting board meetings with clear analysis of financial performance and concise data analysis/presentations that support strategic decision making.
- Work with fellow managers to plan resource requirements in the short, medium and long term, ensuring organisation agility and budgetary compliance
- Development of effective controls to ensure business processes minimize financial risk
- Effective cashflow planning to ensure optimization of working capital
- Ensuring alignment and integrity across the wider AML finance function through strong collaboration with Accounting and FP&A teams
Experience and Qualifications:
Essential
• Accounting (CIMA / ACCA / ACA) qualification
• Significant finance business partnering experience
• People management experience; developing. motivating talent and leading through change
• Continuous improvement and transformational mindset.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills with the ability to convey complex issues to senior stakeholders.
• Self-starter with the ability to constructively challenge.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage several deliverables within strict deadlines.
• Experience demonstrating proficiency of MS Office Applications, with strong Excel skills.
Skills and Behaviours:
• Experience in Automotive industry beneficial.
• Leads their team to make plans for the specialist area they advise on to achieve this, ensuring deliverables are met.
• Understands business & functional strategy and how that impacts their roles and translates that for their team.
